Discussing Francesca, who "is not very much like any one but her own Father." Noting that La Rasponi has returned from Ravenna and mentioning Mrs. Rooks and Miss Lloyd. Describing "the last invalid on hand" who is being treated with vermouth and scotch whiskey, and noting that "most of the ailments of the poor are cured rapidly by meat and wine." Thanking her "dear kind Figlio," John Ruskin, for a sketch, and intending to write him about Francesca's ancestry, which can be traced back "clearly to the Good Queen Elinor." Also mentioning Christ's Folk in the Apennine.
